the dude!

News flash! A toy company has released a line of action figures based on one of the greatest films of all time, namely "The Big Lebowski".

If there are any benefactors out there that would like to purchase this San Diego comic con exclusive for mr. kane then he would gladly lift up a white russian in a toast to your good health, or if you're into the whole brevity thing then he would just say "thanks dude".

We Are The World

This is so freakin' awesome!!!!!! At first I was giggling while I remembered this, but then I realized what an amazing time capsule this is and I was transported back to my high school days when all these singers were in their prime. I thought these people were so cool back then and my god, I just can't believe how many of them have tarnished as the years accumulated.

Still, this is such a fantastic look back.

The Cyclone

photo b.kane

The fam and I went to Coney Island for Mothers Day and had a good time despite the bitter cold and the general run-down-ed-ness of the place.

Lots of good images coming next week.

Oh Kombucha!

I've been on a kick recently drinking kombucha which is basically a fermented tea with live cultures. It's a probiotic drink with lots of goodness and a very acquired taste. But rather than rambling on, here is what wikipedia has to say about it...

The recorded history of this drink dates back to the Qin Dynasty in China (around 250 BC). The Chinese called it the "Immortal Health Elixir," because they believed Kombucha balanced the Middle Qi (Spleen and Stomach) and aided in digestion, allowing the body to focus on healing....

...Aside from any possible health benefits, many users report a subtle but distinct perceptual shift after consuming kombucha. It is generally characterized by mild euphoria, relaxation, and an overall sense of physical and mental well-being. The pH/acetate may increase blood flow to the brain.

Another possible cause of these effects is the psychoactive amino acid
L-theanine, which is naturally present in tea. Stimulation of the circulatory and immune systems, and associated glandular releases, may also account for some of these effects. Some reports of more intense effects could be explained by toxins resulting from contamination of the culture.

Anyway, this is BK's crazy idea of the week. Personally, I like the stuff, it makes me feel great and now I've gotten half the staff at Campfire hooked on it as well. If you've tried it let me know if you like it. If you haven't tried but just want to tell me how it's all just bunk, then feel free to post your negativity and I'll file it away for future reference.

Vampire Bush

Alex Ross

I found this image on a t-shirt at the New York Comic Con and thought it was pretty spot on. It's an image by comic book artist Alex Ross, who is known for his photo realistic super heroes.

Well, ol Bushy is almost done draining every last bit out of the U.S. , but the damage unfortunately will go on and on for years.

Back on Track

It's taken awhile to get the family and myself settled in up here in NYC, so I've been slacking with the blog but I'm going to re-commit myself to a post, photo or link every day. You heard it here first.

Here's a shot from our Orlando to New York trip

Every now and then, a hero rises from obscurity to lift up the human race.

Today I was introduced to this man, Jon Lajoie.

First a little backstory from his bio...

Jon Lajoie, born and raised in Montreal, Canada, is third in a family of nine children. He graduated from Dawson College's theatre/ninja assassin program in 2001, and immediately started booking assassination work, incidentally putting his acting career on the back burner. Between 2001 and 2007 Jon Lajoie assassinated (in a ninja-like fashion) an estimated 40,000 people, and an estimated 9000 fish. (In early 2004 demand for assassanation was low, so for 3 months, he held a part-time job as a fisherman.)

In June of 2007, he decided to start making videos and posting them on the internets. The videos were so well received that he put "assassinating people in a ninja-like fashion" on hold, and began getting drunk all the time. A few months later he decided to get drunk only once in a while and to restart making videos.

Behold, Everyday Normal Guy
