Oh Kombucha!

I've been on a kick recently drinking kombucha which is basically a fermented tea with live cultures. It's a probiotic drink with lots of goodness and a very acquired taste. But rather than rambling on, here is what wikipedia has to say about it...

The recorded history of this drink dates back to the Qin Dynasty in China (around 250 BC). The Chinese called it the "Immortal Health Elixir," because they believed Kombucha balanced the Middle Qi (Spleen and Stomach) and aided in digestion, allowing the body to focus on healing....

...Aside from any possible health benefits, many users report a subtle but distinct perceptual shift after consuming kombucha. It is generally characterized by mild euphoria, relaxation, and an overall sense of physical and mental well-being. The pH/acetate may increase blood flow to the brain.

Another possible cause of these effects is the psychoactive amino acid
L-theanine, which is naturally present in tea. Stimulation of the circulatory and immune systems, and associated glandular releases, may also account for some of these effects. Some reports of more intense effects could be explained by toxins resulting from contamination of the culture.

Anyway, this is BK's crazy idea of the week. Personally, I like the stuff, it makes me feel great and now I've gotten half the staff at Campfire hooked on it as well. If you've tried it let me know if you like it. If you haven't tried but just want to tell me how it's all just bunk, then feel free to post your negativity and I'll file it away for future reference.

Vampire Bush

Alex Ross

I found this image on a t-shirt at the New York Comic Con and thought it was pretty spot on. It's an image by comic book artist Alex Ross, who is known for his photo realistic super heroes.

Well, ol Bushy is almost done draining every last bit out of the U.S. , but the damage unfortunately will go on and on for years.

Penis theft panic hits city..

From Reuters:

KINSHASA (Reuters) - Police in Congo have arrested 13 suspected sorcerers accused of using black magic to steal or shrink men's penises after a wave of panic and attempted lynchings triggered by the alleged witchcraft.

Reports of so-called penis snatching are not uncommon in West Africa, where belief in traditional religions and witchcraft remains widespread, and where ritual killings to obtain blood or body parts still occur.

Rumors of penis theft began circulating last week in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo's sprawling capital of some 8 million inhabitants. They quickly dominated radio call-in shows, with listeners advised to beware of fellow passengers in communal taxis wearing gold rings . . .

. . . "But when you try to tell the victims that their penises are still there, they tell you that it's become tiny or that they've become impotent. To that I tell them, 'How do you know if you haven't gone home and tried it'," he said.

Just a reminder folks, this is the year 2008, we have landed men on the moon, invented the hot dogs on a stick, breast augmentation and many other wonderful things, and yet across the globe people still believe in witchcraft.

Back here in the states nearly 40% of Americans still believe in George Bush's weapons of mass deception.

Personally, I'll stick with the witchcraft. (without the shrinkage of course)

Chocolate Rain

It's been raining lately here in Ol' New York City so in honor of that, let me introduce the genius of Tay Zonday.

Techies & blog types will find this amazing but many people have never heard of Chocolate Rain by Tay Zonday. For those of you that spent the last year living on a LOST island (stuck in a time paradox), then let me explain.

This guy Tay Zonday made this little video and song by himself and it created a huge buzz on the internet tubes. Yes, that really is his voice and he is not a comedian or fake jokester. He also has many other original and reworked classic songs to share with you.

I'll be bringing more of his brilliance to you in the future, so stay tuned.
